League rules

This is a friendly league. It’s nice to win, but most of us are here because we love the sport and the social aspect. Win or lose, let’s keep it fun and safe for everyone. 1. High sticks — NEW If you contact the puck with a high stick, the play will be blown down and a minor penalty will be issued. We are returning to this rule for a variety of reasons, with player safety at the forefront. 2. No redline There’s no redline. 3. Slap shots Slap shots with the blade of the stick above the midpoint of your ankle and knee will be a penalty, at the referee’s discretion. If you raise your stick above the middle of your shin in a slap shot motion, it’s a penalty. 4. Serious infractions All fighting, misconducts, match penalties or any other serious infractions will be reviewed and the appropriate suspension handed out by the Executive Committee. 5. Other rules All other rules will be adopted from the OMHA rulebook. 6. Minor penalties Minor penalties are 3 minutes of running time. 7. Regular-season game timing All regular-season games consist of three 15-minute periods. The last 2 minutes in the 3rd period will be stop time as long as there is a 2-goal or less difference. Otherwise, it will be straight running time.
